100 Nations Project - Mongolia

Nestled between Russia and China, Mongolia is an old nation, trying to find her place in the modern world. This country of 2.8 million is an agricultural society with nearly 40% nomadic people. Once a part of the powerful empire of Gengis Khan, it now struggles with nearly one third of her citizens living in abject poverty.

Over 50% of the population considers themselves Shamanist or Buddhist, over 40% claims no religion whatsoever, and less than 1% calls themselves Christian. Although Christians do experience persecution from their families, many are turning to Christ. Once one of the most closed countries on earth, it is now open to the gospel and waiting for independent Baptist missionaries.
